Top Smartphones launching this August, Motorola, Vivo, Google, and others are set to introduce a range of new phones across various price points in India.
Last month, we saw releases from Samsung, Oppo, Nothing’s CMF, and Xiaomi, including the Galaxy Z Fold6, Flip6, CMF Phone 1, Oppo Reno12, and Xiaomi 14 Civi.
Here’s what to expect this month:
Motorola Moto Edge 50
Motorola is gearing up to launch the Moto Edge 50, touted as the world’s slimmest IP68 MIL-810H military-grade certified durable smartphone.
It features a Moto AI-powered camera with a Sony LYTIA 700C sensor and boasts a 6.7-inch 1.5K Super HD+ HDR 10+ pOLED display.
Honor Magic 6 Pro
The Honor Magic 6 Pro, which debuted globally in January, is finally coming to India on August 2.
This phone has a 6.8-inch full HD+ LTPO-based Quad-Curved OLED floating display with a dynamic refresh rate (1-120Hz), 5,000 nits peak brightness, and an IP68 rating.
It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 octa-core processor, Adreno 750 GPU, Android 14-based Magic UI 8.0 OS, and comes with 12GB/16GB LPDDR5X RAM options paired with 256GB/512GB/1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
The 5,600mAh battery supports 80W wired and 66W wireless SuperCharge. It features a triple camera module with a 50MP wide camera (f/1.4-f/2.0 variable aperture), a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 180MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with 2.5x Optical Zoom and 100x Digital Zoom, along with OIS and LED flash.
The front houses a 50MP sensor with a 3D depth camera for 3D face unlock, and both cameras support 4K video recording.
Vivo 40 Series
Vivo is set to launch the new Vivo 40 series on August 7. The series includes two models:
V40 and V40 Pro. Both models share the same design but differ in some features like camera and processor. They have a slim profile at 7.58mm thickness and come with a 5,500mAh battery and an IP68 rating. The V40 Pro features a triple-camera setup (50MP main, 50MP telephoto, 50MP ultra-wide) with LED flash, while the regular V40 has a dual-camera setup (50MP wide and 50MP ultra-wide) with LED flash.
Both phones sport a 6.78-inch full HD+ AMOLED display and a 50MP front camera. The V40 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 9200 Plus octa-core processor, whereas the V40 comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset.
Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro Fold
Google is set to launch the Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, in India. All models will feature the new Tensor G4 chipset.
The standard Pixel 9 will come with 12GB RAM and storage options of 128GB/256GB. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will have 16GB RAM and storage options of 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will offer 16GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage options.
The 6.3-inch Pixel 9 has a 10.5MP front camera and a dual-camera module on the back (50MP wide and 48MP ultra-wide) with LED flash. The Pixel 9 Pro (6.3-inch) and Pro XL (6.8-inch) feature a triple-camera setup (50MP wide, 48MP ultra-wide, 48MP telephoto) with LED flash and a 42MP front camera.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold sports a triple-camera setup (48MP wide, 10.5MP ultra-wide, 10.8MP telephoto) with LED flash and a 10MP front camera. All four models will include generative AI Gemini features in the Photos app and other native apps, a new Emergency SOS feature for natural disaster alerts, and support for satellite connectivity.
iQOO Z9s Series
The new iQOO Z9s series is slated for an August 21 release. It is expected to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 octa-core processor, a 5,500mAh battery, and a 50MP Sony LYT600 series camera sensor on the back.
